Not exactly a dream session but still worthwhile, just me and Andy up there plus a few dog walkers. Nice and sunny and not too cold but the forecasted 17mph was more like 25 gusting to 30+ and shifting around to the SW for short bursts. Fairly active swell with close packed sets of waves made it interesting as well. Wind was just on cross shore all afternoon.

Andy had some good runs (see below) but was probably a bit overpowered on 11m at times. I had a couple of aborted self-launches with the Venom 13 in the shifty winds but eventually got it airborne and got out for a blast as the wind calmed down a bit. Spent most of the time getting bashed about by the waves but it's all good fun / practice.

Andy - how did your drysuit hold out? Were you still fairly dry at the end of it?

Yes, a funny session really - Very knarly conditions, I've had smoother winds on westerlys at Budle!! But as Joe said it was worth getting out.

The drysuit was a dream apart from the bottom of my legs getting a bit wet, I think that was because the underfleece was protruding from the ankle seals. Lesson learnt for next time.

That use to happen with my drysuit. I realised I hadn't pulled up the ankle seals high enough. They need to go right up past your ankle to get a good seal.
