Description:
Lovely sandy horseshoe shaped bay just south of Seahouses and Bamburgh.
Wind Direction Required:
Works in anything from North round to South with East being onshore.
Great spot in a S or SE.
Tide Required:
At high tide there is very little beach left so best from low to mid.
Hazards:
People during the summer as the beach can get busy. The south end is always quieter but the winds can be gustier in a southerly at this end due to the hills / cliffs further south. At the northern end (the most popular for people and kitesurfers) there are 2 reefs which can be seen at low tide and run out to sea. These can provide very flat water at low tide but caution must be made to avoid hitting them.
Local Amenities:
The villiage is not too far and there is a ice cream van at the north car park during summer. Other than that, nothing but sand!
Popularity:
Very popular amongst North East kitesurfers.
Extra Information:
There is a car park at the North and South side of the beach an a caravan park in the middle. Please do not park in the caravan park as this is private property. Both car parks have an all day parking fee. ?1 at the south end, ?2 at the north.
