BKSA Barrow this weekend

Postby Rossco on Mon May 23, 2011 9:20 am

It's the next round of the BKSA tour at Walney Island this coming weekend over at Barrow in Furness. I was thinking of heading over either thursday night or early friday morning and jsut wondering if anyone else is planning on heading over? If so, does anyone want to car share? I will be heading back sunday morning.

Forecast looks good at the minute and walney is a wicked spot.

I'm going - no surprises there :)
Unfortunately I won't be able to lift share, as I'm going to Manc airport afterwards on Sunday evening.
I'll be heading over on Thurs evening, I expect.

I'll be heading up from Leeds, hopefully on Fri luchtime if I can get away from work. Might even stick around Monday of the wind holds up.

Gonna camp at the Marsh Farm site below which is approx 10 minute drive inland. Pretty basic but a clean shower and toilet and I think it was £3 per night the last time.

Still very much a beginner and need pleanty of room so just wondering of it tends to get really busy during these BSKA meets? Might go to Allonby or Ainsdale if its too crowded.

Hey Chris,

There's loads of room, its a HUGE beach. All the competitors will probably be riding in a fairly small area, cos we're mad like that :)

There is room to camp at the event, either on the field by the toilets or along the seafront where most of the vans will be parked up (the ground isn't great there, but its good enough). £3 a night is pretty good going tho for some creature comforts and probably also being out of the wind :)

If that link is correct, that's pretty far away. I think there's a campsite actually on the Island somewhere.

What time you setting off Pete? We could maybe convoy some of the way there, if we go the same way.

I was thinking of setting off about 6pm.

Forecast is looking sweet! :D

Cheers for the advice gents.
Looking good for an early finish tomo so should be over in time for a couple of hours before high tide. Can't wait! - hope Cezar and Jamie can make it.

Camped in the dunes once before at Walney but I need my beauty sleep and and for those of us slumming it in a tent the inland site is that bit more sheltered.......just the the drink driving issue to figure out :?
Good luck in the comp!

PUSSY!!!!

I am slumming it in a tent and have done there before. it is a real good spot there. The bank kind of shelters the area for the tents enough. And if you have had a few sherberts, like i am sure you will have, then you'll sleep like a baby!!!!

Don't think jamie and cezar are going to make it. Cezar said he will try, but jamie hasn't said, but probably won't as his electronic tag will have him break into a sweat and breakdown if he lieaves the boundaries of Teesside!!!!

Hopefully see you there.
