Was there again yesterday. I think it has got to be one of the best places in the North to surf. It has everything, flat, chop, waves and of course wind.

I've never once had a bad session here and, unlike Paddies, whether the tide is in or out you can surf. In between farting about getting what I thought was some good air, we did a good couple of runs, riding from St Annes to the South Shore at least 5 times, just leaning back and enjoying it, fantastic. We must have covered a good few miles at least.

I would recommend this place for anyone from learning and board starting to jumping and big stuff as the chop gives some good ramps and there are plenty of little 'lagoons' to practice switching, turning and toeside stuff. And the wind is looking good there for a while yet. Get yourselves down...! :D

I really want to get back there soon. I've only been once but absolutely loved it. Just got to find a whole day spare which seems to be the trouble at the minute

Totally agree. I would love to go back soon. Been to fleetwood once and loved it. Its flat and shallow even when the wind is near 30mph. 8) . Couldn't get out the following day as the wind was gusting to 50mph.

I would love to go back there again

Aye was pretty good, we took full quiver of gear with us, ended up on a 9m myself and my mate was on his 7m, averaged about 25 mph+ all day cross - on, about perfect. Little kickers were getting a relative novice like myself a good few feet up with touch of hang time.
Only drawback is the journey, set off at 6am, leave around teatime at this time of year, in the house around 8pm, and managed around 5 hours on the water. Recommended to anyone at any level. Porrfick...!

I thought there was some sort of permit system in that area now due to the numbers using it. Is that the case?

Have a shufty at this link, should clear up anything.

The locals have been fine and very friendly with us everytime we have been down there, but like anywhere, ride like a t@*t and I'm sure someone will have a quiet (or loud) word.

Cheers.
