Hi,
There are a number of buoys that mark the boundary of the water sports zone and people should not go passed these buoys. In addition, people should not go past the track leading down to the bay.
The area is marked out on the map as you approach the bay from the track and if you miss that just keep an eye on for the buoys. If you pass one, it's time to turn back around.
The buoys, one is line with the farmer’s lane, but knowbody should cross that as its shallow and rocky beyond that point anyway. The other buoy is directly inline with the other lane, but situated right across the other side – I think this only ever gets wet in really big tides (5m+).
Here is the designated water sports area marked out.

Here is my version which shows where the buoys are.
The red lines shows the watersports area
The purple circles show where the bouys are
The blue line shows where the channel and where the rough water is
The green lines shows the middle of the bay

This is only a rough guide but basically shows the area we are allowed to go.
Information:
Budle Bay is a lagoon just round the corner from Bamburgh beach. It is a tidal lagoon that fills up 2 hours before high tide and empties 2 hours after high tide. Relatively shallow in spots. No waves get into the lagoon so there is only wind chop to handle. Really beautiful spot. Budle bay is only sailable 2 hours either side of high tide.
Wind Direction Required:
Works in anything from SW to E with WNW being onshore.
Tide Required:
There is no water in the bay at low tide. Kiteable 2 hours before and after high tide.
Hazards:
The currents can get quite strong so be careful in a SW->NW wind and an outgoing tide. Best on an incoming tide. There is also not much beach at high tide. Other than that, the spot is great for kitesurfers of all levels.
Also, Budle is no good for landboarding as the sand is too soft.
Hope this helps
Andrew
