Crimdon as a spot ? :-)

Postby patta on Sat Feb 26, 2011 8:09 pm

hello :-),
I keep reading crimdon mentioned as a kitesurfing spot, I know the chem works and a bit further south seaton and the likes can be good but Ive never seen anyone off crimdon beach itself.
is it possible to kite from there ? the beach is REALLY rocky ! it seems dangerous to launch from there ?.
just wondering if anyone can tell me where your launching from down there.
gracias amegos !
:D

really rocky ?
its rocky up the north end where the caravan park and cliffs are but it perfectly fine a bit further down (where the river runs from the dene).

I havent kited there for a while, it use to be my local beach as I live 2 mins away, but I tend to just travel down to the chem works as more people go there.

I park down at the horse riding school and then walk down the beach from there. I tend to set up infront of the area they fence off for the birds (obviousley I dont set up there when the migratory birds are here though) setting up here also allows me to stick my leash round one of the wooden posts so I can selfland when I am by myself.

ive been down there alot recently walking the dog and there has been some cracking waves and ive also noticed some nice sandbars and flat water :D

i'll be using it alot more this year

do you live local patta ?

hope that helps.

Jamie,
Thanks mate ! I have no idea why I never thought of using those steaks, I'm fairly local to that beach (maybe 10 mins away) so hopefully ill be using it alot more :D I'm fairly new at this so hopefully the waves wont be to much of a bother :p haha.
Thanks again mate for the awesome advice ! - its NNW now so maybe ill give it ago today around 12'ish, or the chem works or paddies depending on the report later.
I'm usualy on a white slingshot rev, hopefully ill see you out sometime bud.
cheers guys :D
ciao for now
