I've kited Filey quite a few times as my parents live fairly close, there is a couple of lads that live there who are also often out.

It has to be low tide to be able to kite there as it hits the wall an hour and half either side of high tide, apart from that there isnt really anything else to worry about. Its a huge beach so never gets overly busy, the donkey people get a bit annoyed if you get to close to them.

Any wind with a bit of easterly in it tends to work, if it has any westerly in it, it is usually sheltered on the beach as the cliff if pretty high.

It gets really rocky when you get close to the north end of the beach towards the brig, can get some nice big surf there though (never kited it though as it gets really shallow at points), the rest of the beach the surf always seems to be a mess.

You would be better off heading to bridlington or fraisthorpe, a bit further south of filey! Both can be kited on any state of tide

 Filey bay will work in a clockwise direction from a Northerly through to South easterly. And then really only usable a couple of hrs either side of low water. Can get very busy with the general public in summer, so you need to be very wise and especially safety conscious if considering using this time of year. Be prepared to wait until the beach has cleared or even abandon your trip. This can be a brilliant venue with both flat and wave conditions available.
Be very aware though. At the Northern end of filey bay you have filey town and its walled sea front. Plus, the bay is surrounded by very high cliffs. So be very careful with potention lofting conditions, especially in Easterly on shore conditions.
Very much a gem of the east coast and has not yet seen a large influx of kiters!
