Get wet this weekend

Postby Bizzle on Fri Jul 29, 2011 11:23 am

Couple of options for you to consider this weekend guys...

Option 1

Saturday morning brings knee high waves (at 7-8sec intervals) to Tynemouth, perfect conditions to try paddle surfing. The morning looks best! We can accommodate everything from 1-2-1 to group tasters to simple hire. Ex Demo boards available to play with too [;)]

Option 2
Destination paddle along the River Wear at Durham, kicking off at 2pm from Durham Amateur Rowing Club, beautiful stretch of water, perfect for honing basic skills or even try some freestyle and you'll be one of the first to SUP the Wear!

More info or to book up give me a call on 07779 127230 or email enquiries at boardskillz co uk

Just back from 3hrs of ripping up head high bombs...

Jaunt along River Wear & flat water freestyle at Durham tomorrow afternoon at 2pm if you still want to get wet and can't be chewed on going West...

Hi Joe,

Welcome to the forum (James here).

Just to say - anyone wanting to triple their time out on the water should really think about getting into SUPing. Joe really knows his stuff and will point you in the right direction. :D

I got into it a couple of months ago and it has been my no wind saviour :D

Cheers,

James

Hi James,

Thanks for the welcome message and the big up :D

How you getting on with that new stick? Did you brave the head high bombs over the w/e?

Just did our first river run in Durham yesterday, what a
fantastic location! Perfect flat water which meant
instant success for two SUP newbies. Great meander
through the city, taking in the architecture, we
certainly received a few raised eyebrows from the folk
walking along the banks and drinking in the riverside
taverns!

I suspect we'll be heading over there more often while
the good weather lasts...

A great option as a team builder, stag/hen idea, family
activity or even a hangover cure! The 4.5Km round trip
will definitely provide you with a workout and it
certainly offers an accessible alternative to paddle
surfing when the seas are too heavy for the uninitiated or recent covert.

No more bum flashing in the car park either as Durham
Amateur Rowing Club are kindly letting us use their
facilities (subject to buying a drink in their
bar after the sessions).

For more info on our next trip over or to see some of the
video and photos from yesterday please join our Paddle Fit
page on Facebook

All of our regular guys really enjoyed themselves so you should definitely come with next time James :D

I was away until Saturday night and sprained my ankle trying to show my nephew how to skateboard

Waves looked great......next time!

I'm getting on really well with the Circle One SUP. I still make a lot of mistakes, particularly with poor timing with switching paddle strokes as the wave approaches but really enjoying the learning curve. I'm resting the ankle for the next 2 days hoping it will be on the mend as I'm up to the hebrides for a week after that and taking all the toys on top of the van :D

The Durham SUP sounds like a great idea.

Cheers,

James
