Hi Paul,
got an 11m Sonic myself. I moved all the lines back, basically less bar pressure and lighter wind use. Also slows the steering down a little. I can't remember off memory but have a shufty at the Globerider website.
The kite itself is a high aspect kite, it needs a decent wind to get the best out of it. Forget the website's wind ranges. I was at Seaburn 2 weeks ago, it was around the 12mph mark and I really struggled to keep it in the air. In the lulls it would just drop, when this happens, you will need to be careful and have the bar right out incase the wind picks up suddenly, it did this 2 or 3 times on that day and once picked me off the deck even with the bar out. Once it picked up later to about the 16mph mark things got better, it's fine but likes to be flying, not just hanging around at 12 o'clock if that makes any sense. When walking to the water, have the bar pulled in slightly so you physically have to drag it along, at least then you'll have a feel for what it's doing. My mate flies Airush kites and hated the Sonic for the very reason it can drop back through the window, just so you're aware of it.
Oodles of power and great fun, when the wind's right I love this kite. Get down to Paddie's as much as possible to practice with it.
I haven't seen you down Shields or Seaburn, you should get down, no such thing as the in crowd, the guys I kite with, will talk to anyone, noone is above a chat. Between us, we get all over the country, Wales, Blackpool, Allonby, Redcar and South Shields, some lucky ones even abroad, and find most folk will speak wherever we go. Have to say I haven't bumped into many who won't speak.
Did you get shot of the Blade then?
Regards,
Chris.
