Gullane

Postby dodgyflyer on Mon Apr 09, 2007 10:36 am

hi, had a great day yesterday with neddy and squires, wind was 22-26ish a bit gusty (W) there were about a dozen kiters out and half a dozen pole surfers! the sun was out water was OK so no hoodys, bootys, or gloves were needed! (1st time this year)!!
think gullane is a top spot it takes approx. 2hrs from tyneside and a better option than allonby as long as wind is westerly ( its gusty as hell on a SW)
theres a good free (whats that) car park with toilets nice beach with no nastys!
afterwards the old golf course inn does great allday grub with real ales!
check it out!!
cheers

Yep, It was spot on. Good to get a decent session under the belt. It marks the beginning of the summer season. It's a bit of a trek, but worth it when you get on the water with decent westerlies.

Thanks to Dodge and Neddy for the use of your kites and the lift, was a bit over powered on the bad boy 13. Great to sit in a boozer and not stink of of tab ash Lilly too, roll on 1st July!!

Getting really excited about Tiree now!!

Took a few crap pictures,

If there is some southerly in the wind the guys kite round at longniddry just round the corner from gullane, on the road to port seaton. It is only kitable from mid to low tide and back again as there are some nasty rocks at high tide.

You can also use longniddry if the wind is on border of wind speed as it is alot more exposed than gullane and therefore usually that little more.

The car park at gullane is manned in the summer but is only a couple of quid at the most. Was up there on monday/tuesday and was blowing its boots of at times but fun all the same. Fingers crossed for the Southerly building on friday.
