Halo expertise required

Anyone had any exp with a 14M halo.

Tried mine on the beach yeaterday for the first time. Conditions were pretty marginal, and I'm niot familier with it so the odds are a bit against me. However, when I got it flying it didn't seem to respond particulalry well and the back lines appeard a bit too loose. Dodge had a scan and thought it should be better. I had a look at the Airush manual and its about as much use as a chocolate fireguard for tuning info.

I'll try it again in better conditions and see if it improves, but if anyone has a sage pointers or had similar experience I would appreciate the input. :?:

can't really say steve without a fly but it did look like the back lines were very loose. this will result in very vague steering, and the kite falling to either side of the window (which is what i was seeing).

also the set up was not what i've seen before, the bridle for the front and back lines was continuous with a pulley system separating them. on a hybrids (waroo, instinct etc) the rear lines are connected directly to the rear of the kite. i think that this is a standard bow design but it confused me.

i would give mike birt @ surfstore a call (01740 631199), he imports airush as well as flying a 10m halo amongst other things and is very knowledgeable/helpful/friendly.

paul.

Chaps,
Have had a trawl through the airush forum and it appears there are quite a few people who have experienced similar problems to me in either light winds or strong winds. Primarily due to gusts and in particular when leaving the kite at 12 oclock. (sound like Thursday?)
A few remedies are suggested so I'll have a tinker and see if any work. I'll also have a natter to Surfstore when I get a mo. Cheers

third time lucky

For any would be halo owners:
after much fiddling about and a bit of research + better winds - success
Had a good light wind session ay Beadnell today and apart from being a bit slow at turning kite is now going fine. :)
Tips:
Don't leave at 12.0clock in gusty/marginal winds - else it will fall out of sky
Stretch the lines
Set the sheey in/out about half way to start with, make small adjustments after.
Back lines on highest (neares the kite) knots.
Then with a bit of luck and a fair breeze it seems to go ok.
Only problem I had today was when it fell into the water trailing edge first. with the wind being light I couldn't work out how to get it to launch again. Any ideas? Its fine if it falle leading edge downwards.

If the kite is sitting directly downwind of you on it's trailing edge - reach down the front lines and pull them both towards you at the same time. This should get the kite off the water, let go of the lines and if there is any wind the kite should rise through the middle of the window...only try this in light winds...but then if the wind wasn't light your kite wouldn't be sitting in that position anyways! :D

Aido,
thanks for that, I thoughtI had to do something like that and did try. I guess the wind must have been just too light or I didn't persevere for long enough.

I've heard the Halo is a 'reversible' kite !
You can fly it on the inside as well as the outside
ditch it and get a 14m Sonic.
