when peoples kites backstall theres a few things that it could be.
1) backlines too tight.this is normally caused due to the fron lines stretching through use. this can be easily solved and you can test to see if any of the lines have stretched. I'll write how to do it when I get back in the house tonight.
2) wind is too light and you are oversheeting the kite. when flying the kite in light wind try trimming the kite in a bit (less power on the trim strap) this will change the AOA and make the kite fly faster towards the edge of the window creating more apparant wind. most people think when flying in light winds you want to have the kite fully powered but this is generally not right
3) pilot error- If the wind is gusty then one minute the kite might be flying fine with the bar fully sheeted in and then if the wind drops slightly it might start backstalling because its over shheeted. It all just about feel, which is gained from experience.
