How to remove stuck down footpads

Postby Rossco on Mon Sep 26, 2011 2:38 pm

Looking for some advice on the best ways to remove stuck down footpads, anyone got any good ideas or have done it themself?

I have an old Best Float series board that i can't bear to part with, and need to replace the pads and straps.

Cheers

Anything gluey, sticky or greasy I need to get off I use a carb cleaner aerosol from any car shop. You could try getting a plastic spatula in so it dosen't scratch the board. Or you could try heating them up with a hairdryer?

Done it! WOO HOO!!!!

Managed to get all the sticky icky shitty stuff off my board today. Started off using nail polish remover, wasn't going very far and then tried white spirit, that worked a little more but not enough. So i took a little visit to my local DIY store and they recommended this product Sticker Remover by HG. And that has worked like a sweet little treat. Took about 40min once i got going with this stuff. I did melt one of the wifes yellow marigold gloves in the process. So mayeb use something a bit stronger in the future!!!! :D

But job done and i am pleased. There is some discolouration to the deck now where the pads were stuck down, but i think this is more to do with the length of time the pads have been stuck down and not to do with the sticker remover stuff.

It was a snip at £3.50 for the bottle, but i will get many more uses out of this yet. I removed a couple of stickers at the same time, nice and clean, no probs! Defo recommend this product.

Cheers
