Kite Repairs

Postby Rossco on Sun Jan 02, 2011 10:08 pm

Hey guys,

looking for some advice on kite repairs. I got a nasty LE to TE rip in my 12m Pure today up at Bamburgh. She chewed me up and spat me back out on my first outing there, good way to start the new year eh?!!!! lol

Can anyone recommend a good sail repair place around teeside or in the north east. Pete has suggested Trident in gateshead or Surfstore at bishopton, has anyone used either of these and are they any good?

Cheers, guys, the sooner i get this repaired and don't have to splash out on a new kite that i can't afford, the better i will feel and the quicker i can get out on the water.

Sorry to hear about that.

I've used Trident before and they were very good. This was for small repairs though. A tear right across the kite is pretty major. Was it the big waves that destroyed it?

yeah it was i think. although i couldnt see it at the time, as i was on the other side of a large wave!!!! Think i am going to take it to surfstore, spoke to a few mates and heard good things. And it is closer than trident.

Cheers anyway.

Dont be surprised if they dont fix it as you did'nt buy the kite from them, That said Lynn down there is really really good!!! so you will get a top job done.

Got my kite back last night from Surfstore. Looks like they have done a good job, and it was for a reasonale price too, £40. I was also glad to hear that they guarantee the repair work as well, they said if i had any problmes with it, to take it back and they would look into it. So fingers crossed for some wind this weekend and i can get back out and give it a run down the beach! :D

I also enquired about their plans for a cable ski on the lake. And apparently it is moving along nicely and they might know by the end of the month if they are getting the go ahead. So fingers crossed for them and we could all be cable skiing this summer!!!

Cheers
