I think so, i never have myself, purely cause i have never seen anyone else out and generally go where there is other kiters. It might be best to ask the guy that has the power kite shop at the beach there. It is called Charlie Don't Surf.

It would be a cracking beach though if the wind was right. You can kite along at Marske, by the stray, i have seen people there a few times, but again only when the wind is right, and it works best in easterlies.

I agree ross, it is a great beach. I am only just getting into kitesurfing, and just booked my first days lesson (all the gear and no idea), but couldnt understand why there seemed to be no kitesurfing going on at saltburn. I initially thought it might be to keep clear of the surfers who get down there, as they require more specific locations/conditions, but i wasnt sure.

Saltburn is a good beach and i had been spending hours down there with my daughter in the summer. it would be good if people did kitesurf down there, then i could go and watch for a few hour whilst scoring brownie points with the wife for spending quality time with the little one!!!!!!

As i said before, i am just getting into this as we speak, but i have 3 weeks off work at a time, so i should get some air time in with the kite and start bumping into some of you down the beach by the summer ( i mean bump into in a theoretical sence......... not bump into after a 200 yard drag across paddies in 40 knott winds!!!!)

Take it easy

I surf down saltburn quite often and seen a few kitesurfers in my time, the surfers are not happy when they kite to the right of the pier. There is also signs in the other side saying your not aloud to surf the the left of the pier, although it doesn't say anything about kitesurfing.

If I were to kite there I would stay on the left side to keep the surfers happy.

I think it might just be easier to go to Redcar or paddies, at least there will be other kitesurfers there to let me know the crack with me being a newcomer. A surfer can't exactly get anything out of going to somewhere like paddies, so its maybe an idea to leave saltburn to them. It's not like there's only 1/2 mile of coast around here. I realise after being on the web researching for 4 weeks solid, that we are quite luck round here for locations as virtually every wind direction has a suitable location. Plus all the coast an hour or two north seems good too. Think I'm getting addicted and I've not even flown my real kite yet. (still on my trainer till my 1st lesson!!)
