Hi Dex
Druridge is the main place. North end is the best. There is a no fly zone (400m either side of country park building summer and 200m winter) - this is basically the area with the old concrete tank traps. Please do not drive right onto the dunes even if others do. Part of the access agreement for kting is to keep cars off the dunes - you can park with half the acr on the road and half off. Don't park at the country park as you get charged. Go a bit further north of the country park turning and you'll find a turning goiong straight down to the beach front - if you get to Radcliffe on the main road, you've gone too far.
Other places to to try are:
Blyth beach, but it can be quite soft at times. Also think there are some fields (rugby /football) on the opposite side of the coast road here that have been flown on, but I don't know if there are any access issues.
Link House beach - this is the South end of Beadnell beach approached from near Newton by the Sea. Small car park is £2 all day. Quite often you can kite at high tide or close to it as the sea doesn't come all the way up. There is a no fly zone half way between this (the South end) and Beadnell marked by posts with a diagonal cross on top. This is to protect ground nesting terns.
Beadnell beach (north end), but this can get quite hard ripples and can be uncomfortable on a landboard.
Bamburgh. Gets very busy with grocks.
I've once tried Tynemouth, but again you have problems with it being very busy with walkers and tourists.
Nearly all of these are better in Easterlies and the winnd can be very lumpy in anything with a bit of West in it. You've been warned.
You could try looking for some sports fields closer to Newcastle. If you find anywhere and can get permission, it would be great to know.
Good luck getting out.
Cheers
Steve
