Hay you lot out there, thank you for taking time to read this. Right, I am wanting to get into kite surfing. I have know idea where to start. Hope someone can point me in the right direction. With slow funds at the moment, I will have to buy gear bit by bit, and hope to to have what I need to get up and runing by next summer. So, where do I start, what type/make/model of kite/board/size to I buy? How much should I pay? Is second hand gear ok to buy for starting out? I am 6foot in height and weigh 13stone. Where is best place to start oout, and what type of conditions? Because I dont know anyone who goes kitesurfing, would anyone show me how to start out and get me on my way to enjoying what seems a real thrill! I would really appreciate any help, thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

I think the first and most important thing you do is to get some lessons!! Kitesurfing can be a very dangerous sport if you do not know what you are doing.I have seen so many people get hurt as a result of them not knowing what they are doing. Getting lessons will give you the basics into kitesurfing, For Example - safety, suitable wind conditions, locations, beach assessments. Once you have completed your lessons, I would say you would then have the confidence/knowledge to go out on your own or with a friend.

Once you have completed your lessons, you can then start to think about getting you kit. Your instructor should recommend some suitable kites and boards for you.
