..

No Dis-respect here Alibongo but err........ all the reading of these books and your research, plus you mastering all these other sports you mention isn't going to help you with getting hooked into a big kite. Do everyone who is using the beach, children playing, folk walking the durg and of course us fellow kite surfers a favour - Don't bother, GET LESSONS, you’re a walking liability otherwise. The lessons will speed up your learning curve and get you to a safe standard.

This of course is only my opinion, good luck which ever route you take,

The Borginsteiner.

Saying you are going to 'give it a shot' shows you don't understand how dangerous kitesurfing can be. You are probably thinking, whatever, how bad can it be.......I do / have done many of the sports you've listed and kitesurfing has the highest number of risks IMO. Kite, bar, lines, changing weather conditions, other riders, hazards at the beach, other beach users....the list goes on an on. I've had a number of scares over the last 7 years. Lessons are required at the beginning. Plus you are going to be crashing the kite a lot - you might as well do this on a school / instructors kit rather than your own!
