I reckon this could go on for a while.....Kite.......board.......wetsuit etc
Have you managed to get any lessons?
Winter is not the best time to get into the kitesurfing as you will spend nearly 95% of your time in the drink. Believe me, its bloody cold at this time of year and there is nothing worse than being cold and therefore you will not enjoy it - I am 100% on that one. Thats talking from experience!
Either way, If you havent/have had lessons i would still wait until March/April before stepping into the water. However, there is nothing stopping you flying your kite on the beach to keep those flying skills up to scratch
In the meantime, be on the look out for your kite, board, harness and wetsuit, but I am sure your instructor will advise you on what to get and what to miss.
Something to think about:
Kitewise, something 2008 or younger is best, but stay away from a C kite! SLE or a delta kite is your best bet as these depower nearly 100% and you will progress much faster with these. Dont spend loads on it either as you will no doubt trash it by crashing it. By this, I mean don't go brand new. I would probably go for a 10/11m depending on you weight.
Board - Something around the 138-142 mark.
Harness - Seat harness to start, but once you get the hang of things you will most likely move onto a waist harness
Wetsuit - 5 x 3 wetsuit
Anything else you would like to know, fire away....
Cheers
