Id say the best thing to do is get a 3-4m foil kite

something like a HQ beamer or flexifoil quark. or a 2 line kitesurf trainer kite.

you can pick up something like this for about £40 - £100

it will teach you how to control a kite and learn about the wind window and also it will teach you to respect the wind as its always going to spank you once in a while.

Ive actually got a 3m 2 line kitesurf trainer kite. you can lend it if you want ?
just pay postage costs and once youve finished with it you can send it back to me .

or if you want to buy one ill post up some links on here to some decent ones on ebay and online shops

a 3.5 bullet is going to be quite powerful and unless you are sticking with land kiting not really worth the money.
If you want to get into kitesurfing then you will quickly want a water based kite, which the bullet is not.
I would take Jamie's advice and go for a cheap trainer kite to learn how to fly.

Cheers,
Rory

or save your cash and put it straight into lessons and then worry about gear after. Then you won't have to buy and sell gear so often. Probably save yourself a few pennies too :D

I would definatley get a trainer kite first and will always recomend it to a beginner with no kite experience.

Since I started kitesurfing I have met loads of beginners down the beach.
I have helped quite a few people who have had lessons but had no kite experience before. However when watching them fly a kite some peoples kite skils where pretty poor (not knowing how to turn the kite/relaunch, ect).

on the other hand I have met other people who have had previouse kiting experience from trainer kites to landboarding. These people already have the kite skills thus making it so much easier when learning in the water. Instead of having to worry about flying kite they can just concentrate on the board.

I know a few people who have gone from landboarding to the water and they have been up and riding first time out, mainly because they know what to do with the kite.

jbt1991 (jennifer) not trying to have a go, just airing my opinion based on previouse experience  :)

replied to your pm about the kite neil.

yeah i know, don't worry :) I was thinking of the use of beginner kites that goes on in the lessons. Suppose you'd actually get more from your lessons with previous experience of kites  :)
