newbie saying hello

Postby dazz_m on Mon Sep 28, 2009 10:30 pm

hi all
New to forum and kite surfing recently just bought my self a wipika 6.5 kite and a fone 6ft board for £50 to get me started, i was up in redcar on sunday 28/9/09 to try and get my self used to the kite.

i have had a look at some pics and videos of other peeps kite surfing and they make it look so easy but when i was having a mess about with the kite i found it hard to keep hold of the damn thing and i have noticed that apart from the harness their are lines going threw the power handle, do these come with the harnes you buy or do you have to get them seperatly

Image

any advice much appreciated

cheers

hi,
my advice would be to get some lessons before going back out with your kite (http://www.ka-kitesurfing.co.uk/)

The kite which you have bought looks to me like a wipika free air, and from what you have said you are flying it on 2 lines  The kite will more than likely seriousley injure you.

even when you have had lessons this kite will not be suitable.

so basicly get some lessons and Your instructer will recommend some good gear to learn on after you have had your lesson
hope this helps

Yep - agree with Jamie on this one I'm afraid.

The kite you have is ancient. It is one of the first kites to emerge when this sport started off. Things have progressed so much since then and most importantly, things have got much safer. Your progress will be really hampered with the old kites, particularly this one.

Lessons are the way forward.

Good luck with it all.
