Northumberland Newbie Saying Hi

Postby Bennettb on Thu Jul 16, 2009 5:05 pm

Just come across this site, I've just started kite surfing this year and living just 10mins from Budle, Bamburgh and Beadnell I'm hoping to get some good practice in this season!!

Should be at budle over the weekend with a 13m Pink Waroo so you might seeing me practising flying or body dragging! Done loads of wake boarding and snow boarding but this is my first year with the kite which I'm finding a lot harder than expected to master!!

Hi
I've just started this year, had a couple of lesson from Kev Anderson at Beadnell and am now boardriding upwind. I just need to master my turns now as still having to sink myself down and start again at the end of each run.

I can't launch the kite myself and am looking for someone to go kiteing with to help each other out.

I live in Consett in County Durham and love it up at Beadnell, Budle, Bamborough so not bothered about travelling.

Hey

Ive just started out as well, I live in newcastle at the mo so if anyone is heading up bamburgh or anywhere round there let me know and ill be happy to pay towards petrol.

My folks live in bamburgh as well and have a shop there so sure they can sort out a bit of bait for your troubles!

What kind of kite are you trying to launch? - most SLEs are easy - fully de-powered, just walk the lines round pulling the kite to the wind (watch out for shells and other pointy things though  ) - once the kite catches the wind it should pop onto its end (at the edge of the window) then just gently steer it up the side - landing is slightly more tricky - better to get someone to land you unless your confident at self tethering/releasing to safety, etc
