At last managed to get on board the first runs have been acheived down at Paddies in SWly 10-15mph winds in flat safe water, was smiling all day until a small tear fron a shell on the beach on impact split kite front to back 'What a sickner.' I was really enjoying it, the buzz was fantastic then it went a bit Pete Tong. 12 kiters down including 4 new starters like my self good to meet Kev and his buddie. I will post next time for any newbies looking for company.

I still struggle a bit getting the kite clear of the water, so would welcome some top tips.

What kite you using (type/sixe)- what were the winds like - could be the winds were light which always makes water re-launching tricky - generally just pull one side and it should flip onto an end when it gets to the edge of the window then just stear normally up off the water - you could try pulling the de-power in as that can help (works for me any way) - in lighter winds or to speed things up you could also yank the centre lines together - this gets the kite a bit more on its back and again makes things easier - best thing to do is practice in shallow water and just try different techniques to find out what works best.

Cheers, the kite is a12m airush flow the wind was light, I managed to get the kite on its back but it would not travel and rise at the side of the window. Do you mean pulling the strap to depower the kite then let it off when airbourne or just a tug then release again

If your getting it on its back then there would be no need to pull the front lines - I just use that as a speed technique - if it's the Flow SLE then it should move to the edge without this technique but if it was a light wind then you would still probably struggle - probably time to pack up if it's that light :(
