Sailing in the winds of Hurricane Katia

Postby Andrew McMillan on Tue Sep 13, 2011 7:16 pm

Some big winds were had at a place up in Northumberland called Budle Bay today. With the tail winds of hurricane Katia hitting the U.K for the second day, what else would/could you do apart from go and have a kitesurf....... 8)

Had the 5.5m Kahoona prepared for battle and boy did she perform! Winds were very strong and was recording 40 - 50mph with the odd gust of 57.4mph!!

This is what we got......

Looks like you had a great day for it. :D

Ended up being pretty squally down here by redcar, so i gave it a miss. The gusts were hitting 60 odd again, so didn't fancy it on my 7.5m

Tommorrow, lookin pretty good though, bit more managable 12m weather!!!

Sergio Borg was taking the pics, the guy in the green wetsuit (dont think you have met him yet).

it was an epic day, thought it would have been too much on my 5.5m but the kite was only half depowered. Borg was on a 6m rpm.
