Stonking Friday Afternoon Session @ Chemworks!

Postby Roly on Fri Jul 25, 2008 9:01 pm

Wooooo! Still stoked after getting back from the chemworks this afternoon.

Had a bloody nightmare getting there, stuck in stationary traffic as they closed the A19 for 2 hours but it was all worth it for 2 hours riding in sunny conditions, mirror flat water and 25 knots!! Proper maxed out on my new 11m Wazoo but it was awesome!

Makes me remember why i love kitesurfing

However it does seem that for every action there is a reaction...or karma or summink, James naffed his wrist and Peet blew up his 9m...Hope it's not too serious James, and i feel your pain Peet, it's happened to me before!

Have a good weekend all!

got 2 hours in before the incident in 20 knots, warm, sunny, butter flat lagoon.....was loving it. Then cocked up what was suppose to be a small backloop transition near the shore, went far higher than planned on the nemi and to boot pulled the wrong side of the bar so it became a high powered kiteloop into 1 inch water, putt my weist out 2 take the blow and ouch!!!!

The verdict is damaged tendons, huge swelling now, no fracture but a chipped bone with a lose bit floating around (will apparently fuse with another piece of bone when it meets. Wrist is pretty useless, doesnt bode well for my lessons, arghhh!!!! Ah well, could b worse.

Typing 1 handed takes bloody ages....

Eek James, sorry to hear about the injury :( Hope you're able to get back on the water again soon.

Not in a cast or anything as there is nothing they can do about the loose bone (it's quite small) so that's good news. No real timeline for the tendons, just tons of rest and fingers crossed. The bummer is my trip to west coast of scotland, hebrides etc for 2 weeks is in 3 weeks time and it's unlikely it will be sorted by then. Always happens at the worst times.........

Just going to do next to nothing with it until then. Also need to finish my lessons as soon as possible so really hoping for a speedy recovery otherwise everyone will be hacked off.

Well bad luck James :( . Hope you get sorted quick.

You could try one handed flying!

Not quite the same I know, but when I smashed my heel rock climbing I went on an overhanging indoor wall and was climbing one footed albeit with top rope in place. Did wonders for my climbing technique, balance and stamina. Just got make sure you don't fall while doing this!

You never know you could become the world's top one handed kite surfer! :D

If it's looking like a blinder on the Scotland trip I might have to try!

Actually, it's looking a lot better than at the weekend. Swelling is gone, wrist is now a lovely green / purple colour so bruising is coming out. Just got the worrying lump that travels up and down the back of my hand as I move my wrist up and down. This is the bit that's got me thinking it's something a bit more serious. Still, I can move it now which is a far cry from the club hand I had on Saturday. :D
