Visit to Barra (Outer Hebrides) & Dingle Peninsula (Ireland)

Postby nekitesu on Tue Aug 30, 2011 10:42 pm

Well - the summer holidays are over but I did manage to get 2 very nice holidays in. One was up in the outer hebrides at Barra. This is a fantastic place (I've now done all the inhabited hebridean islands and this one is my favourite). The potential for surf and kitesurfing is enormous. I only managed a few sessions but I'm going back next year so fingers crossed.

The second holiday was to the Dingle Peninsula in Ireland. This was also great. Not as stunning at Barra but the conditions really were perfect. I was out in first class conditions every day (either SUPing, Surfing or Kitesurfing). Brandon Bay is an enormous horse shoe shape bay that works in almost all winds and makes the most of any atlantic swell. On the other side of the beach is flat water spots that pick up no swell so everything is covered.

Here are some pictures of the trip.

On the way up to the Hebrides - I got a cheeky surf in at Pease Bay - it was enormous!! 10ft+ :D

P.s. I will be selling the van very soon, if anyone is interested, just let me know.

I was greeted with this surf on the first day. It pretty much stayed this way for the whole week :D

I would highly recommend both places. If anyone is planning a trip and wants some extra information then just send me a PM.

Cheers,

James

It will be a sad day when I say good bye to the van. I've spent tons of time (and money!) on it but I am keen to get a high top t5 and work on another project. I'm going to try and get this one sold and the new one bought over the winter so that the new one will be ready for next years summer trips. That is the plan anyway....
