Wakeskate........

Postby jamie501 on Fri Dec 30, 2011 1:48 pm

This just arrived this morning......

been thinking about getting one for a while, as this year I think ive rode my skim and surfboard alot more than my TT, mainly because I find ridding strappless alot more fun, so I thought by getting a wakeskate it allows me to ride strapless on a TT and do freestyle, perfect!

Was going to go for the cab skate but the when I realised TONA had a uk distributor I had to get one as their package is alot better as you get both grip tape and EVA options included and a a travel bag, and its pretty well priced at £249 (299 retail) however if you give olly a shout at oliver(at)theb2bcompany.com and tell him jamie sent you he will do them a bit cheaper before the shops get them.....

Sweeet...

I have tried the Jobe wakesake, not specifically designed for kitesurfing, mainly for behind a boat. It was alot of fun but I found with how heavy it was, I needed alot of power to get up and go. However, very easy to do 360's though :D

yeh the TONA is 5kg so its not light but wakeskates need to be heavy to keep the board under control when they have left the water.....that was one of the main problems I have with my skimboard, its too light and big so it catches the wind quite easy which is a good thing when your flicking it up into the wind to grab it for a grabbed air but not so good when you do shuvits of waves and kickflips. only ever landed two kickflips because as soon as the board catches the wind it gets blow a few metres downwind :x . but the wakeskate should solve this problem :D

forecast is looking good for tomorow so if anyone wants a go ill have it with me

looks great
i kited landudno a couple of years ago and i was strugling on a 12m and hoggy from over that way was on a 10m and a wakeskate which looked simalar and he was doing great ,jumping and spinning it so i landed my kite and watched him for about an hour looked great but youll have to wear skater trainers and pull your boardies down to show your arse
i tried a shinn waterbird with same thoughts but needed to much wind, but i will be interested to see what you think
ps brought some lagging to paddies yesterday for you

looks sweet man, might make it down tomorrow too, but early for me probably, as we have friends coming for NYE.
