I think most (not all) newbies (if there at the level of not really getting up on the board yet) have hibernated until Spring.

We......or I am still here, just injured at the minute. I stuffed my ankle just before xmas at paddies whilst pratting about on the beach before i even got on the water. Stupid i know, but i was just messing with my new switchblades and it was too cold to go in the water. But all being well i hope to be able to get back out in about a month. Got the physio on monday so will hopefully know more then.

But all us newbies have to stick together.......and just keep on at it. Hopefully the big boys at paddies and the gare will help us on and look after us!!!!! LOL

See you on the water guys.

Hi guys,

Thought i'd make myself known...just moved to Newcastle till end of May and looking forward to some water sessions! Originally from North Wales where i've learnt the basics...so getting up on the board downwind then walk of shaming it up the beach to start it all over again!!

Anyway would be keen to meet up with anyone brave enough to venture out in the cold!!

Cheers,

James

Well it is looking like there is plenty of us out there. Lets hope we can all make it to be in shape and bustin some big moves by October. When the BKSA tour comes to Redcar!!!!!!! LOL

Anyway, doesn't look like i am gonna be back on the water for another month maybe more. Went to Physio today, and definatley have ligament damage and some damage to my ackilies tendon. So got some treatments to deal with first and a bit of recovery and exercise. But i will be down the beach now and again checking out the conditions and to see who is out and what is going on.

Catch ya later guys.

Hi a full blown newbie here ...... :D ...... just purchased a second hand set up to have a go at what looks like a whole load of fun ........ i took the smaller kite out on sunday and power is a even more than i expected and needs to be respected , , cant wait to get more practice in , can i ask is there maybe a rough amount of hours of kite time that i should be aiming at before even trying a drag in the water ????? ........ i also need to keep it safe as im old

as far as keeping safe my top two tips would be:- 1 - wear a helmet, 2- take some lessons! (if you've not had some)
The helmet will keep your brain safe for when you crash hard, and yes it will happen at some time... :)
The lessons will also make you safer and help you progress at a much more rapid rate. You should be body dragging pretty much straight away if you can control the kite on land.

Then it's down to time on the water!
Good luck

p.s. James who runs this forum does lessons locally.
