Who is coming to the meeting on Monday?

Postby Evolutionkites on Fri Nov 25, 2011 11:28 am

Reply with your name if you are coming to the meeting on Monday 28th at the Teesmouth Field Centre, Hartlepool Power Station, Tees Road, Hartlepool. TS25 2BZ. Meet at 6:30-6:45

Remember...

Anyone who is interested in kiting through the winter in these areas should come along.

Anyone who dosen't like being told when and where they can enjoy the sport they love should come along.

Anyone who is angry about the situation at Budle and dosen't want to see a repeat should come along.

REMEMBER...if these areas are closed to us in the winter where are you going to go for your fix when theres west in it? Walney?

I'm hoping to see lots of us there on Monday night.

I have to be in Manchester tonight. I tried getting in touch with Katherine Simpson before hand but no response so far. I must be trying the wrong channels.

**UPDATE**

Last nights meeting at the Teesmouth Field Centre was more of an exchange of information between the Field centre, RYA, Bob Pailor and Katherine Simpson of INCA, local BKSA Instructors/kitesurfers and THYC Tees and Hartlepool Yacht club.

I want to thank Jamie Blackwood, Dan Hair, Simon LeBeard movember and Dave Ibby for sharing their time, vast local experience and knowledge with everyone last night.

We ended up learning a lot about the local wildlife and managed to agree that there would be no restrictions…only a voluntary code that basically involves educating the kiting community about bird life in the mentioned areas. We will get the wording finalised and make that happen. I have also agreed to erect signage to inform visiting kiters or people that don’t use the forums about bird roosting what to look out for etc. INCA are meeting with all water users, bait diggers etc soon and are hoping to have a larger meeting in January.

Year round off leash dogs and the general public could use the information to make the most beneficial impact on roosting birds, we also talked about the dog mess problem (local school kids on a recent trip were shocked at the state of the beach, dunes and car park area) at North Gare (Chem works) and the rubbish at South Gare hopefully this can be resolved.

We also talked about the rows of tyres left in the sand at Bran Sands (paddies) and the occasional fork that gets left in the sand for us to ride into amongst many other things.

I had this email today…

Hi Craig,

Would you please pass on my thanks to all the kite surfers who attended last night’s meeting. I really did learn a lot about your sport and how you use the area. I will aim to send some information out to you over the coming weeks regarding the wording for a voluntary code.

I will also look at the possibility of signage along the zinc works road and some form of leaflet with all the information on too.

All the best,

Katherine
