Designed to give you a feel for the sport, giving you a much better idea of what kitesurfing is about and what is involved.

NEKitesurfing is getting very busy for the 2008 season. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

Further Information & Pre-requisites:

NEKitesurfings one day taster kite surf courses gives you the chance to experience the thrill of kiteboarding without the additional cost or time taken in the 2 day kite surf course. The taster day gives you a basic grounding in the concepts of kite surfing and you will end the day in the water to experience body dragging - an essential and fun part of kiteboarding. However, if you are pretty sure that you will enjoy the sport, take a look at the 2 day kitesurf course which will build in more depth the skills to become an independent kitesurfer.

N.B The 1 day course is a taster course and does not cover riding on a board. This is because of the amount of material and practise that needs to be covered in order for you to be able to take part in this sport in a safe manner. The board start is the main purpose of the 2nd day of the 2 day course. Many students who are unsure about the sport will book on a 1 day taster course and then attend the 2nd day of a 2 day course at a later date if they enjoyed it - I'm in no doubt that you will!

Kiteboarding taster lessons are taught by a fully qualified and accredited instructor. . A wetsuit will be required during the course. NEKitesurfing does have a limited number of wetsuits and wetsuit hire from the nearby surf shop is possible so please contact if this is an issue. NEKitesurfing will supply everything else you need for your kitesurf lesson from harness, board, kite, helmet, and of course you qualified kite surf instructor. For extra safety you are of course fully insured.

There will be a maximum of 4 people on the taster course which runs over weekends during the period of March to October each year, weather permitting.

Pre-requisites:

You must be able to swim 25m and be confident in water.

If you have no previous kite flying experience, I would strongly recommend you either purchase a 2-3m 2/4 line traction kite and become competant at kite flying or book the 1/2 day powerkiting course with NEKitesurfing.

You must be 18 years or over to take part in a kitesurfing course. If you are under 18, a parent must be present during the entire course.

You are advised to bring your own wetsuit if you own one. NEKitesurfing only has a limited supply of wetsuits.

If you do not own your own wetsuit, please enquire to see if any of the NEKitesurfings suits will fit you. If not, please arrange your own wetsuit by either hiring in advance at the Tynemouth Surf Company or Rubber Soul in Tynemouth or purchasing you own prior to the course. Please contact NEKitesurfing if you need any help on wetsuits.

Once you've paid for the course through the online shop NEKitesurfing will email you all available course dates as well as a link to a booking form which needs to be downloaded, completed and sent back to us to secure your place.
